From Mainz to the rest of the world
Johannes Gutenberg has permanently influenced the development of humankind like no other inventor. Every book, every printed text, every digital message goes back to him. As the brilliant inventor of printing with moveable type he triggered a media revolution which continues today – and which originated in the city of Mainz.
The Friends of Gutenberg aim to preserve Gutenberg’s legacy and take it forward into the future. We look forward to welcoming new members to support us! Donations are important yet ideas and creative drive are just as vital.
Mainz has an absolute treasure in its Gutenberg Museum – with an impressive collection and great potential. However, over 100 years since its founding by the citizens of Mainz the museum is now outmoded and needs restoring, both inside and out. Let’s join forces and work towards its refurbishment!
Support us in our work by becoming a member of the Friends of Gutenberg.
